We Are Invested in You

This is our introductory post for EMPLOYMENT NOW and I want to thank you for visiting here, to learn more about us. We are a new company (Non-Profit) with a mission. If you have visited our pages, you will see who we are and why we are here to serve. We want to earmark training, placement and development of individuals usually left at the starting gate by employers because they lack employable skills, nor have been exposed to the soft skills necessary to understand how to get and keep the job, once you have it.

We intend to focus on Adults in Transition: Women, Veterans, Individuals with Disabilities, our Youth struggling to find their way in the world of gainful employment, as well as individuals new to the workforce—who are attempting to make a way for themselves and their families. EMPLOYMENT NOW is delivering— Hard Skills and Soft Skills Packages to Trainees: Information Technology Training, (A+, Network+, Security++) Employment Readiness Development which includes the entire Career Development Package: Personality/career assessment, career counseling, academic counseling, goals identification and development, interview prep, customer service skills training, etc. In other words, we are about developing the whole person. A holistic approach is the best way to describe it.

When my son (Khari) and I put our heads together to decide how to give back, we focused on our best skill sets. He is a brilliant IT Professional and highly focused Entrepreneur. I am a recently semi-retired Psychologist whose life has been spent working in human capital development. I have been an instructor/trainer, career and academic counselor, education program administrator and a highly focused business community outreach representative helping counselees understand the challenges of our new world of work—helping them connect with employment to match their dream job—once they understand how to make that connection. My campus has been higher education, professional career institutions as well as private contract/grant work. We put our heads and hearts together and we were off! –blending our expertise.

WORK IN THE 21ST CENTURY

Those who are late bloomers or attempting to catch up to become trained in a skill, or need to extend current training into an employable asset have not been exposed to the fact that in the past 20 years, the workplace has become a GLOBAL ECONOMY. What this means to most people attempting to catch up, is that they are no longer competing with just their next door neighbor, without adequate skills, but they are now competing across the world for jobs that require very specific expertise and knowledge, couched in an arena of “Information Technology” they must learn to become comfortable using. At the same time, robotics is taking this competition to a whole new level.

The World of Work, in the 21st Century has very little in common with the 20th Century competitive edge. Information Technology has changed the entire landscape. It has driven the world in an entirely new direction….or should I say that we are being driven an entirely new way that requires; a specific skills set that includes Information Technology, soft skills that are relatable to providing decision-making, problem solving human interactive development skills due to the multi-generational workplace and a customer service driven dynamic needed there. Not only is it a multi-cultural environment, but it is one in which AI (artificial intelligence) is becoming a highly interactive state of affairs—requiring the ability to interact personably, professionally and skillfully.

Let me begin to wrap up here by restating that EMPLOYMENT NOW has a Mission Statement and a Primary Directive —to bring along and create the opportunity for those being left behind—by providing a chance to catch up, encouraging their bright and intelligent minds, hearts and spirits into an environment of productivity that will provide them a level playing field, the have previously been excluded from enjoying.

APPLICANTS / Participants

Our goals are to provide Training, Internships, Employment and Placement Services to the populations usually marginalized due to lack of education, opportunity, critical life transitions, unfortunate life circumstances, but let us not forget, poor decision making skills. None of these circumstances should be the end all and be all to a life that needs fulfillment or has a Second Chapter ready to happen. Please see our website to know how to apply.

BUSINESS PARTNERS / GLOBAL COMMUNITY

We also need Business Partners who are focused on the needs of these aformentioned individuals who are looking to improve their employability skills and need financial assistance and practical work experience (internships) to do so. We are designed to be a community-based non-profit company with a mission to build community in DC, connecting around the world. We are not only open to the District of Columbia Business Community & Government Partnerships, but Global Partnerships are in our future. We need you to provide internships, job shadowing experiences and employment placements to graduates from our programs. Your participation will provide the Energy of Success that will begin the climb into self-actualization. As you know, training without practical experience connected to workplace exposure, is often not enough. We need you to help make that difference.

VOLUNTEERS

There is a need for Volunteers to work with our students and participants as Mentors. The knowledge that is retiring when our Baby Boomers decide to take a less hectic path in our world, means that all that intelligence, wisdom, hard earned knowledge and good old “Horse Sense” –as my mother used to call it– is creating that infamous “Black Hole” that Government identified years ago. We cannot lose our Wealth of Wisdom. There are entire skill sets and knowledge bases that are disappearing—moving away from the support our society desperately needs. We can’t let that happen. We need you to stay active in our communities. We want to encourage individuals with that Wisdom, Knowledge and the Energy to Give Back, to do so. If you have valuable expertise our students can utilize, please Volunteer your time to be a Mentor—Whatever your age.

DONATE

If you have the ability to donate, please do. We are Non-Profit and do want the community to help us survive. Part of our survival, as people of the Global Community, is to first help our smaller community-based projects, businesses and organizations survive. Unfortunately the best of intentions, need funding. So, if you can give, please do so. Anything will be appreciated.
Visit our Website to find out how. Thank you in Advance!!
